I always find it interesting what card someone will choose to represent himself. I think of James as a Knight of Swords (someone with lots of mental energy, sharp, quick witted, uninhibited), but in choosing the King of Wands, I believe James was representing himself as he would like to be: someone with more stability, someone who is able to create a firm foundation. The first card someone chooses in a tarot reading is known as a Significator. I believe that this card can change as the questioner changes. If the questioner wants to take on the traits or characteristics of a particular card, I believe it is appropriate to use whichever card represents the person that the questioner would like to be.
